Afterthoughts to the 4th International Bulldog Meet

Beitrag von Axman »

Hello all,

as I´ve heard, not everything went well for the non-german-speaking participants.. :?

And that is, I´m sorry to say, my fault..

Had everything gone as planned, I would have been in Bad Herrenalb to take care of your questions or worries, and would have served as your translator and tour-guide (and to pamper John and Mick....they always need pampering.. ) So, what went wrong??

Over a year ago my wife broke her wrist while walking the dog..everything healed ok except, that she lost all feeling in three fingers (obviously the nerves weren´t working properly) There is a Specialist in the "Klinikum Aachen" for these kind of neuronal problems and already last year we asked for an appointment....which we got three weeks ago...for the 5th of June   As she had to stay in Aachen for at least two days, and we didn´t know whether she had to have surgery again, I decided to cancel the trip :(

I really didn´t realize, that none of the other BOC-Members spoke English...or was to shy to admit it.. So, as I´ve heard, nobody took care of you and some of you felt isolated or worse, unwellcome... and that really is the worst impression one can have of an "International Meeting"

Again, I really am sorry for this and promise, that next year everything will be better..a lot better !!

Regards

Axman

Hi Axman

Sorry you were not there, but not as sorry as it was to here you had family problems :(
I hope it is all sorted now and things are on the mend, as you guessed me and John did need pampering and had to console ourselves with plenty of beer, I must say it worked quite well until morning, and then we had to start consoling ourselves again.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Best wishes Mick

jfakesch from this forum helped me to tune my bulldog up in Hermannstadt (Sibiu)together with another friend.

I packed everything on the bike, and left Kronstadt (Brasov) on 1st of June towards Germany. Unfortunately police suspended my licence after only 22km. I drove too fast while going out of a village - Rotbav - radar was measuring speed just before the sign with 'end of town'. So, I'm suspended for at least 30 days (max.90 -don't know yet), I had to buy a second-hand Yamaha Aerox moped for commuting till I'll get my licence back

Due to the fact that the service-personal wasn’t really interested in selling drinks,
I didn’t get enough beer to find my English vocabulary – sorry!
But good understanding also works without talking the same language, as You see.

Hope to see my english friends again soon!

Hello Axeman,

Best wishes to you and your wife. Don't worry - we still had a good time! :-D Although I have tried learning the German language this year, progress has been very slow. The only part we didn't understand was the speeches on the party night. We got by fairly well otherwise. Food was always a pleasant surprise - it is lucky that we will eat almost anything!
Did I really order this? I thought I meant steak! :-k

See you next time ~ John W

Hey John,
many thanks for that translating "W-U-double L-D-double E" to (german spoken) "Wuldi" - i thought (because of pronouncing "Basti" as "BuzzDee") that "u" would be a german "a" and it would be pronounced in german as "Waldi".

However, * happens - everyone how didn't know me would call me "Wuldi".
But I'm working on telling them to call me with the right nick ...

Cheers!

Hi Wulldee,

I get called all sorts of things! But it does not matter. The main thing is that we all know who you are! :rockout2:

Cheers ~ John W (or is it John V?)Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Wuldi, Waldi... wo ist denn da der Unterschied:?:
where is the difference:?:

Es zählt doch nur die Person für die der Nick steht.
Also Memme hier nicht rum und trags wie ein Mann
It's the person behind the Nick, who counts.
Don't be a whimp and take it as a man.
