Hi,
One oil filter side cover scr_ew thread became bad (the bottom one, scr_ew with the gasket), did not hold the cover and so was loosing oil. So I was drilling the hole out, installing the thread insert, which was tricky, due to the limited access. But ok, it is now installed.
Then I noticed that there is this small hole from the filter assembly to the scr_ew hole, and it seems that scr_ew hole goes all the way to the oil compartmen again (now wondering if any debris got into there while drilling).
Flushed out a couple times with oil, so I guess should be ok now?
So just wanted to ask if someone could explain what's that hole for, does it have some real engineering purpose, as it is beeing blocked with the scr_ew anyway as far as I can see.
