dragomir: How to Adjust a Carburetor (air/fuel mixture) - help (Freitag 27. September 2013, 09:10)

Hello and greetings from Bulgaria.
I have an 2006 Bulldog. Is there any info for adjusting the mixture (air/fuel)? Am looking in the service manual but i did not find anything about it.

Hello, and Welcome!

There are tons of information about tuning and adjustment here on the forum, if you look for it, most of it is in German of course, but some in English too.

Basically adjustment is done with an angle s c r e w driver, carbs synchronized, AIS disabled, adjust pilot s c r e w s to achieve 4.5% CO value measured at the exhaust ports (you need an adapter s c r e w to connect gas analyzer tube to these ports).

You can try to ask more precisely if there is something else you need to know, and I will try to answer.

And your Bulldog? Tuned? Air intake, jets, exhaust?

Regards from Lithuania,
Paulius

The idle mixture can be adjusted as decribed by Paulius, it is also described in the workshop manual. For adjustment of the mixture in all other conditions, you will have to change one or more of the following:
- pilot jet
- main jet
- needle (clip) position
- needle shape (This does not seem to be done quite often, by the way.)
And of course: carburettor slide stoppers, air intake and exhaust!
Good luck!
Ronald
